A Circle of Giving This Winter
Sometimes a simple pair of pyjamas can make a real difference for local children and families.
The Kindness Collective, who run the PJ Project, have nominated Community Link as a local recipient, alongside other community organisations around the motu, helping ensure children in our community stay warm through the colder months.
Even more incredibly, local donations are helping unlock even greater support for families in need.
Not only are donated new pyjamas from locals gifted directly to Community Link, but through the PJ Project’s partnership with The Warehouse, Community Link also receives a $500 donation that can go toward even more pyjamas.
On top of these amazing contributions, our local Wānaka branch of The Warehouse is also supporting the Cold Kids campaign with additional community funding for winter essentials such as heating, bedding, and warm clothing.
It’s a genuine circle of giving:
People donate → The Warehouse donates → Community Link supports local families.
Scott Sowman-Barnes, Store Manager at The Warehouse Wānaka, says the team is proud to support local whānau through the colder months.
“We’re proud to support Cold Kids and help provide further funding to keep whānau around Wānaka and Lake Hāwea warm during the very cold winters we see here. It’s great to be part of something that helps local families in a practical way.”
With the rising cost of living continuing to place pressure on many households, initiatives like this can have a huge impact for children going to bed cold this winter.
You can donate pyjamas from today at The Warehouse, and National PJ Day is Friday 12 June, and we’d love the community to get behind it.
If you’d like to help, keep an eye out for PJ Project collection points or get in touch with Community Link to find out how you can support local families this winter.
