Community Link Receives Mactodd Grant to Boost Foodbank Storage

Community Link is receiving $5,000 from the Mactodd Community Charitable Trust to expand our Foodbank’s non‑perishable storage capacity. This support comes from the Trust’s inaugural community funding round, which distributed $379,770 to eleven organisations across the Southern Lakes region.

Supporting Growing Local Need

Demand for Foodbank support continues to rise as the cost‑of‑living crisis impacts many long‑time locals juggling multiple part‑time jobs. Last year Community Link provided 1,326 food parcels, assisting 2,240 people. Steadily increasing demand is increasing pressure which makes efficient storage and procurement more important than ever.

How the Funding Will Help

The Mactodd grant will enable us to install a dedicated storage container at the back of our premises, significantly increasing our Foodbank’s non‑perishable storage space. This will reduce volunteer and staff time spent travelling to our off‑site storage unit and allow us to take advantage of bulk‑buy deals, improving consistency of supply and reducing administrative effort. We also acknowledge and appreciate Dunlop Builders, who have offered their time in‑kind to relocate and fit out the container.

Strengthening the Community Together

We are proud to be among the eleven successful applicants in this first funding round, alongside community service organisations throughout Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes. The Trust received 96 applications, highlighting the strong community spirit and significant need across our region.

Our Thanks

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Mactodd Community Charitable Trust for this investment.
