Christmas Appeal

Community Link Launches Christmas Appeal: Everyone Can Help Our Community Thrive

This year has been tough for many in our community. Families are financially stretched, some in the older community are feeling more isolated, and for too many, Christmas is already shaping up to be a time of stress rather than celebration.

That’s why Community Link is launching our 2025 Christmas Appeal — because together, we believe everyone can play a part. A financial donation or a donation of food helps ensure no one in our community is not supported this Christmas. Donations provides real, immediate help — and gives us the flexibility to respond to whatever comes our way, whether that’s a festive meal, support for an older neighbour, or help for a family facing unexpected hardship.

The appeal is built around five key themes that reflect the heart of our community:

  • Empathy & Fairness – Everyone deserves to celebrate, not just those who can afford it.

  • Local Immediacy – Your support helps neighbours today.

  • Collective Impact – Together, we ensure no family is left behind.

  • Practical Giving – Food and financial donations provide the greatest flexibility.

  • Celebration & Hope – Christmas should be a time of thriving, connection, and shared pride.

According to the QLDC Quality of Life Survey 2024, one in three families in our region live paycheck to paycheck. Youth unemployment is rising, and many seniors face rental insecurity.

“Christmas should be a time of joy and hope, not stress,” says Ian Maxwell, Community Link Trust Chair. “Your support ensures every child, parent, and elder can celebrate with that hope.”

Donations will go toward food parcels and financial assistance for families under pressure. These practical gifts allow us to respond flexibly — whether it’s a festive meal, support for an unexpected event, or ensuring seniors have something special over Christmas. We want to be ready for whatever comes our way, and your generosity makes that possible.

Everyone can make a difference.
